Project

The Carpeaux footbridge connects Courbevoie to the Dalle de la Défense by spanning over the Demi-Lune road as well as the North circular boulevard. Nearby is the Collines de’Arche housing complex, the Le Havre viaduct and the railway line connecting La Défense to Saint-Lazare station. As part of the extension of RER E arriving there, new access to the multimodal hub will also be created nearby.

The project is implanted between the two most emblematic buildings of the esplanade, thus  the Grande Arche and the CNIT, with direct access to Place Carpeaux.

It includes two towers framing the Carpeaux footbridge, linked together by a bridge building 100 m above it.

The project design is dictated by site constraints: the footprint is limited and the floor levels must respect the road templates as well as the street and courtyard level access.

The structure reflects the lack of possible foundation areas. Inclined posts and a facade grid guide the loads towards the supports, and the floors of the largest tower are made of steel trough in order to reduce the structure weight.

A complete finite element model was used to study the dynamic and static behavior of the tower. A 3D structural model was built to produce all the graphic parts of the file.

Services

Complete project management, including:

  • Preliminary design studies: APS / APD for the tower and preliminary design for the roof,
  • The realization of the business consultation documents for the structure part,
  • Work monitoring and approval of execution plans,
  • The entire tower structural plans are produced using a 3D model developed in Revit.
